Heron Tower

Heron Tower will be the tallest building in the City of London, including the 28 meter high mast it stretches 230 meters into the skyline. The use of 885 Optisol® Glass-PV modules has contributed to the tower gaining an 'Excellent' BREEAM rating.

The 46 story high building has six external south facing elevator shafts which are completely covered with the Optisol® Glass modules. The architect Kohn Pederson Fox has designed the modules in such a way, that the appearance on the outside equals the one on the inside. This is realised by Scheuten by applying a blue screenprint on the inner pane of these modules. Three of these huge modules, measuring 3480 x 1331 mm each, are pre-mounted in a sub frame by façade builder Scheldebouw, to be lifted and mounted at once after arriving at the construction site. The whole building will be commissioned in February 2011.
