Sustainability in theory and practice

By means of its products, Scheuten Solar is contributing to a cleaner environment. Throughout the world our PV systems are converting solar energy into power. But we go further than that, e.g. by fitting a sizeable proportion of our manufacturing sites with our own products. This means that to a significant extent we are fulfilling our own energy needs. Even after the life span of our products has come to an end we ensure proper processing. It is for this reason that we are affiliated with the PV-Cycle recycling program.

As a company Scheuten Solar does its utmost to make employees aware of sustainable business practices. The Scheuten group has a working group on sustainability, with representatives from all levels of the business dedicating themselves to the subject. By setting concrete goals, we transform sustainable theory into sustainable practice. For 2011 (for example), these goals are:

  1. The packaging material that Scheuten uses must be recyclable;
  2. CO2 emissions are to be driven down by 20% by limiting travel (air or otherwise) and using video conferencing instead;
  3. Reducing paper consumption by means of a variety of measures such as standard double-sided (duplex) and black-and-white (mono) printing, implementation of a key card system and removal of local printers;
  4. Sustainability analysis of strategic goods (raw materials);
  5. Purchasing Green Idea Boxes, enabling any Scheuten employee to help us think about making the company more sustainable.
